We thought it would be fun to check out several parks in Seattle and surrounding areas and rate them (hey, cheap entertainment!) We rate them on a few things: KIDS- uniqueness of toys, variety of activities/toys, and overall appeal. ADULTS- the boring stuff: easy to find, condition of park, etc.
PARK #1- DRAGON PARK in MERCER ISLAND
Guess this is why it's called Dragon Park! (while this sounded cool in the online park description, it wasn't very fun to play on...)
There were FIVE different toy sections to play on, as well as being next door to a school that had a nice playground. This purple slide was bumpy for some reason.
Karis, Queen of the Castle
found this plaque on a set of toys. Its sweet and reminds me of something appropriate for my children. And Montana is kinda a cool middle name!
On the other side, this is a regular big toy. Pretty cool!
Monkey See...
Monkey Do!
Great spot for weary parents and temporarily-injured children with scraped hands
What made this park really appealing to the kids is the huge wooded area they could run around and play hide and seek in. Kaylie was quite the trekker and kept up with the kids too.
PARK ASSESSMENT: (scale of 1-10) the kids give Dragon Park a 10 in toys and uniqueness. As a parent, I loved everything about it (benches for parents to sit on, very clean, nearby bathrooms) the only thing I didn't love was the amount of "nature"- there were lots of small holly trees growing and sticker bushes all around with the trails, and Kaylie fell three times on her face running and tripping over roots.
Would be a great park for letterboxing too.
We're definitely going back!!!
